Alicia Cohen Case: Sex Abuse Yes, Sex Ring No. "False Memories"

So, Alicia Cohen accuses her father, in a civil lawsuit of sexually abusing her. But not just that, she said said her father also " allowed family friends, acquaintances and religious men to rape her." Alicia Cohen said the abuse took place between the ages 3 thru age 11 or 12. Alicia also claimed that her father filmed her sexual abuse and sold it.

The father and the 6 others accused denied anything happened. No shock there. A federal jury did find Alicia's father liable on 5 of 14 counts.

The defense attorney for Alicia's Dad used an old tactic. "False Memories"

Ah False Memories. Everyone remember the False Memory Foundation? Which has been debunked..thank goodness. It was dangerous junk science. The whole point of this group was to protect people accused of child sexual abuse. The Founder, Peter Freyd, accused of sexually abusing his own daughter. Remember the name Ralph Underwager, one of the advisors for the FMF? Remember that quote he gave to a foreign paper that got him fired? " Pedophilia being an acceptable expression of God's will for love".

Underwager was used as an expert in over 200 cases for people accused of child sexual abuse.

Think about that.

So, even tho the foundation has been proven a fraud. And the science behind it proven to be junk. The False Memory nonsense is still in use today.

Let's get a little off topic........

Concerning the Ramsey case. Back in 2000, a woman came forward, with her therapist, making claims that a friend of John Ramsey...member(s) of that friend's family...was involved in a sex ring in California. JonBenet and her family were at this friend's house the night she died.  Police conducted an 11 week.."investigation" into her allegations. It wasn't much of an investigation. More like a discredit campaign. Well, after 11 weeks, police hold a press conference saying that there investigation into this woman's claims has ended. They didn't say she lied, even tho they really wanted to. They said her story"didn't connect" to the Ramsey murder.

The BPD actually forwarded her info to the FBI to look into what happened to her in California. They believed the California part of her story...but not the Boulder part.

My question..why after the conference would a high ranking BPD officer take the woman's attorney aside...and tell him to keep his mouth shut and threaten him?

Interesting town Boulder.....
